Sotong Kicap

  • about 15 squids - I bought frozen from Korean Grocer, quite fresh.
  • 1 large onion - sliced
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • Some dried chili - optional
  • 2 green chili
  • 1 Tbsp ground ginger paste and Garlic paste
  • 1 Tbsp Sambal Oelek
  • Dark Soy Sauce
  • Sweet Soy Sauce (Kicap Manis)
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Oyster Sauce
  • 1 Tomato - cut cube
  • Scallion
  1. Heat oil, throw in the cinnamon stick, curry leaves. then the sliced onion, ginger and garlic paste.
  2. Add in the sambal oelek, dark soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, tomato sauce and oyster sauce. Stir well. Then the tomato cube.
  3. Add in a little bit of water, not too much because the squids will produce more liquid.
  4. Once the sauce bubbly, add in the squids. Keep stirring until fully cooked.
  5. Salt & pepper to taste. Add in chopped scallion. Serve!
