Creamy Clam Chowder


  • Some bacon strips, cut into pieces
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 (8oz) bottle clam juice
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 large potato, peeled - cut small pieces
  • 2 (6.5oz) cans chopped clams, drained
  • dash of hot sauce
  • salt
  • Cilantro
  1. Heat oil, throw in bacon pieces in saucepan, saute, stirring often.
  2. Add in onion and cook, stirring until softened.
  3. Add flour and cook, stirring then pour in clam juice (and a bit of water) and bring to boil, stirring well.
  4. Add milk, potato, clams and hot sauce. Season with salt.
  5. Increase heat a bit, bring to boil then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are fork tender.
  6. Ladle chowder into bowls, sprinkle with cilantro and serve hot.
