German Gold Poundcake

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 tsp double acting baking powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  1. Preheat oven to 350'F. Grease and flour 10" Bundt pan or 2 9" by 5" loaf pans.
  2. In large bowl with mixer at high speed, beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  3. Add flour and rest of the ingredients; at low speed, beat until well mixed, constantly scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Beat at high speed 4 mins., occasionally scraping bowl.
  4. Pour batter into a pan(or bundt pan) and bake 1 hour or; if using loaf pan, 45 to 50 mins. until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 mins.; remove from pan; cool completely on rack.
